Child Labor Minimum Age Requirements
Minimum Age Work Eligibility Requirements
  • At least 14 years of age (federal law)
  • At least 12 years of age (state law)
State law concerning minimum age applies only to those employers not subject to the federal
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Employers may call one of these offices of the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Wage and Hour Division for information on federal laws and to find out if they are subject to the FLSA.
