Description:
The Robotics Weld Technician will: Create and modify complex Fanuc/ABB robotic welding programs while consistently maintaining the essential welding parameters. Change as necessary the weld data, torch angles, electrical extension, starting techniques and other robotic/welding variables. * Safely troubleshoot, repair and maintain automated automotive manufacturing cells operating with ABB robotics. * Provide technical support in developing and improving welding processes. * Provide support in the analysis and resolution of weld equipment failures. * Troubleshoot part fit-up problems. * Assistance in development of the weld quality control process. * Provide general weld support to Assembly Operators. * Assist in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment, including weld controls, MIG welding robots. * Create and modify programs for Fronius welding equipment. * Analyze and determine proper weld sequence for cycle time and part dimensional improvements to reduce cycle time and ensure part consistency. * Assist the Weld Engineer in data collection for continuous improvement activities. * Complete preventive maintenance per the instructions on weld fixture, weld cells, and auxiliary equipment. Provide suggestions to continuously improve the preventive maintenance schedules. * Provide assistance in the design, build, installation, and start up of weld cells/fixtures, size machine/tools, leak test machine/tools, and all auxiliary equipment. * Complete equipment changeovers according to the changeover instructions for weld fixtures and all auxiliary equipment. * Assist in departmental measurable goals relating to customer concerns, cost of quality, cost savings, safety, and on-time delivery. * Familiar with low and high-pressure hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems. Job Requirements for Candidate (not all inclusive): * 3 years welding technician experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience creating welding programs for Fanuc/ABB robotic systems. * Previous experience setting up and troubleshooting automated welding applications and performing preventive maintenance on weld fixtures, weld cells, and all auxiliary equipment. * Proficiency with interpreting part prints and adjusting parameters for Mig schedules. * Completion of one of the following training classes: Fanuc and ABB. * Fanuc Arc Mate and/or material handling programming experience preferred. * ABB Arc Ware and/or material handling programming experience preferred. * Independent/coordinated robotic motion control experience.
