Description:
The Quality Engineer will support day-to-day operations in the area of Quality. This includes making a determination if parts are non-conforming or to print, sorting, rework, if possible, creation of rework procedure, part/process quality determinations, SPC analysis, gage correlation and root cause determination for customer returns. The Quality Engineer must work very closely with all plant Operations personnel especially with Shift Team Leaders. Additional key internal relationships include the lab technicians, Maintenance techs, and all Process/Quality Engineers. Quality Engineer will also work with representatives from the customers both internally and at the OEMs’ facilities. • Perform required document control; analyze SPC data for parts and processes; assist in the APQP process for new programs; participate in root cause analysis of internal and external issues; assist Production, Maintenance and Engineering in improving part and process quality. • In charge of all the sorting and rework activities, including training, documentation, verification and validation and ensuring material is re-introduced at the appropriate step in the process. • Provides daily Quality support to Operations for concerns, issues, and questions regarding quality of part, product or process. • Reviews daily all Quality documents, forms, collects generated records and analyzes data and data trends. • Is the record keeper for all the quality related production forms used on the shop floor, including data sheets and Quality Alerts. • Participates and sometimes leads Corrective Action activities, with the ability to drill deep to find the actual, true root cause(s). • Complete Gage R&R studies • Assist in managing the nonconforming product created during the shift in conjunction with the Red Bin Process (e.g. identification, segregation, rework, release from hold, scrap). • Participate in relevant Problem Solving activities. • Oversee Quality, lab and testing records. • Post/Retrieve Quality Alerts. • Analyze data for parts and processes, set control limits on tolerances to assure high quality parts to customers. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related-field (Math, Sciences, etc.) along with a minimum of 2 years work experience in an actual production Manufacturing environment--specifically CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) experience. Background and experience in the Automotive industry is necessary. Also requires prior knowledge and experience in Document Control, Attention to detail along with strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to ensure success.
