Description:
**This position requires previous work experience in the Meat Processing industry.** Position was established to ensure that all employees are aware of company policies and expectations, and receive in-line training from certified personnel for each task they perform with safety in mind. It is the responsibility of the Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure that all work performed for the Employer and in its name is done in a safe manner. This position will not have direct reports at this time.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. * By the direction of the General Manager, Health and Safety Coordinator (HSC) will directs entity's health safety programs to protect employees against harm, and maintain safe working conditions in line.* Formulates and suggests work safety standards, and enforces procedures. Risk prevention areas include hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, or other unsafe conditions. Meets compliance and reporting requirements of federal or state regulations.* Directs activities of Health and Safety Committee and provides Health and Safety Training. * Advises management on problem correction.* Other duties may be assigned. Education/Experience:* High school Diploma/GED.* CPR Certification.* SQF certified practitioner.* Food Safety training.* Minimum 5 years experience in Meat Processing.* Strong managerial skills.* Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.Experience/Working Knowledge of: High School Diploma or Equivalent; Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Science or Biology degree preferred Good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy, coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, read and follow technical diagrams and blueprints, assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment, handle and maintain confidential information, work daily for periods of up to 8 hours or longer as required by situation. Completion of Blood Borne Pathogen Training. Completion of OSHA required training. Knowledge of MSDS chemical safety and OSHA requirements for record keeping.  Hold a valid driver's license to operate Company vehicle as required and possess insurability.Note: Candidate will/may be exposed to noise, cold temperature, some dangerous machinery or other hazardous conditions requiring safety adherence and/or PPE equipment; standing or walking a high percentage of work day.Drug screen and background check administered by Employer.#LI-MB
