Description:
The successful candidate will plan, coordinate and manage the quality assurance program at a commercial beef processing facility which portions boxed beef and manufactures retail and foodservice beef and poultry products. This person will also schedule and conduct/supervise HACCP, quality and food safety-related monitoring, verification and internal auditing, and manage the documentation of each. Directly manage, establish expectations, discipline, and hire/train Quality Assurance Supervisor, Sanitation Supervisor and their direct reports Co-manage BRC Coordinator Communicate quality, food safety, regulatory and customer-related requirements, programs and policies to peers in all other departments at a plant level; educate peers as needed to ensure adequate understanding Develop, revise, reassess and maintain HACCP programs and documents Manage test and hold program Conduct mock product and packaging recalls Manage Allergen Control Program • Manage Country of Origin Labeling and Export Verification including twice annual export audit • Manages raw material claims process • Manage review of returned goods and follow up on cause for return • Manage execution and performance of pre-operational inspection and environmental monitoring • Train and supervise all QA staff to assess product quality and safety during production • Verify correct monitoring procedures and documentation • Determine, implement and document thorough and appropriate corrective actions • Help develop training programs and materials for new and existing employees • Ensure facilities and programs meet current and newly released USDA requirements • Communicate with on-site USDA and develop and implement response to non-compliance reports • Manage weekly USDA exit meetings and Food Safety Assessments • Write, revise and ensure accuracy of product specifications for new and existing products • Ensure new products conform to USDA labeling, HACCP, and internal and/or customer specification requirements • Design quality audits and microbial monitoring programs for new products • Train supervisors and line leads on new product or packaging specifications • Communicate with customers regarding quality issues and/or concerns and serve as primary liaison for onsite customer visits and audits • Ensure BRC Standard requirements related to Quality Assurance and Sanitation are met and serve as co-liaison for annual BRC certification audit • Present audit findings to management • Some travel to supplier and customer facilities required; approximately 5% • Some travel between in-state production and storage facilities required • 5-10 years experience in meat processing required, red meat experience preferred • 3-5 years experience as Quality Assurance Supervisor or Manager • Bachelors degree in Animal Science, Meat Science or Food Science preferred • HACCP certification required • SQF certified practitioner or BRC internal auditor training preferred • Food Safety training • Strong managerial skills • Bi-lingual preferred Experience/Working Knowledge of: • Red meat specifications • HACCP requirements and USDA regulations, directives and notices • Export verification • Country of Origin Labeling requirements • SQF/BRC requirements • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint – strong computer skills a must • Web portal management • Third party and internal audits • Product lotting, identity preservation and traceability #CBRC When submitting a résumé for this position, I understand that this information may be used to create a registration with the Georgia Department of Labor on Employ Georgia.
