Description:
Direct and coordinate the activities of the purchasing department. Meet all purchasing deadlines and maintain budget restrictions. Coordinate purchases between department supervisors and plant manager. Maintain inventory levels and scheduled audits. Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints. Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems as they relate to purchasing. Interview, evaluate, and coach and counsel with employees. Initiate and coordinate inventory and cost control programs. Prepare and maintain purchasing reports. Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or delivered goods. Enforce safety and sanitation regulations. Monitor and approve employee time. Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness. Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms. Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation. Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power. Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Assess, manage and mitigate risks. Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers. Determine quantity and timing of deliveries. Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand. Any other duties as asked by plant manager. Qualified candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred. Skills: * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions * Ability to read and understand equipment drawings, operation manuals, Safety Data Sheets, and other literature * Demonstrated computer skills with purchasing systems, Outlook, Work, Excel, etc. * Strong project management skills * Supervision and coaching skills * Good mathematics skills * Troubleshooting, Critical Thinking/Problem-solving skills * Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude * Ability to develop procedures, SOP, and training * Ability to communicate effectively in English * Ability to keep track of and report on activity * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities Work Activities: * Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects * Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as ascending, moving, balancing, traversing, positioning one's self, and handling of materials * Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical and electronic principles * Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and industrial trucks BS Degree in business or related field of study preferred. This is a high-speed manufacturing plant operating 24 hours per day and seven days per week experience working in that environment is a plus.
