Description:
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Candidate may perform any combination of the following: knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of automotive and heavy equipment. Also requires knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures, operating principles and mechanical repair of engines along with skill in diagnosing defects and making repairs in heavy equipment and hydraulics, climb on/off equipment; may perform any other duties as assigned. The position may assist other craft workers as well as ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed by bringing problems to the attention of immediate Supervisor, Safety Director or HR Supervisor. The position requires candidate to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Saturday with the work day starting at 7:00AM. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work. Candidate is required to wear steel-toe work shoes and other PPE as specified by the Employer. Current valid Class C driver's license is required; CDL Class B with Tanker endorsement is preferred. Job locations are currently in the following counties: Fulton, Gwinnett, Forsyth, Cobb, Spalding, Cherokee, Rockdale, Henry, Dekalb and Clayton. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Pay is competitive; benefits package (Medical, Dental, Life, Vision) begins after 90 days of employment. Vacation, holidays and PTO begins after 1 year of employment. DOT Physical, background check and drug screen are administered.
