Description:
This individual is responsible and accountable for sample collection and analysis in the Quality Assurance Laboratory under the direction of the Quality Assurance Laboratory Supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. • Plan, manage, and supervise the activities of a centralized laboratory & perform standard chemical tests relative to food safety to assure their delivery in an accurate & timely fashion using proper safety precautions. • Requires candidate to multitask • Collect and monitor the collection of pre-operational, operational, & environmental samples for testing in the laboratory. • Prepare media and/or solutions necessary for the performance of all laboratory tests. • Test for trial new & improved laboratory methods & procedures. • Proactive attitude toward workplace safety at all times • Ability to perform data entry, experience with Microsoft Office i.e.: Word, Excel • Basic understanding of safe handling, storage, and respect for chemicals • Understanding preservation chain of ownership a must • Knowledge of GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) • Maintain a clean work environment • Requires candidate to work all shifts as needed with occasional overtime and weekend work, as needed Understands organization goals, production goals and key performance measures. Understands how the position can affect these goals and measures. Understands and complies with attendance policy, attends work consistently and on-time. Knowledgeable and proficient in basic word processing and spreadsheet software use, and data entry. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, observe, inspect, estimate and assess. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. Qualifications: * High school diploma/GED to include coursework in Chemistry; Bachelors or Associates in Chemistry, Biology or related science is preferred. * Minimum 1 year FDA Quality work experience in a Laboratory setting.
