Summary: Performs protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner when coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and property to maintain a safe and secure environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Spend majority of shift on patrol, moving about, traversing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions. Operate pager and two way radio to communicate. * Maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests, and assisting with door lock problems. * Coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, fire or safety hazards and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner. * Handle undesired conduct and potential violations of hotel policy as warranted for the security and safety of hotel guests, associates, patrons and property. * Move/remove persons, packages, luggage, wheelchairs and operate safety equipment. * Maintain contact with the Front Desk/Night Auditor and observe the front door of the hotel by remaining in the Lobby area when not on property patrols. * Maintain and review daily activity log. * Maintain confidentiality with respect to guest and employee incidents. * Hold briefing with Guest Services staff both at the beginning and end of shift. * Check I.D. of visitors/employees as necessary. * Open secured areas for authorized personnel. * Respond to security alarms, complaints, and employee altercations, and investigate reports of auto accidents, theft, and assault. * Provide escort and assist guests to their rooms or help guests enter their rooms. * Assist during medical emergencies and administer First Aid/C.P.R as necessary. * Maintain an awareness of legal limitations of position (i.e., local ordinances, state ordinances, etc.) * Assist outside agencies as necessary. * Complete Incident/Accident Reports in a clear and concise manner. * Work special functions as requested. * Receive deliveries and deliver requested items to guest rooms. * Make wake-up calls. * Gather items left on property (during rounds). * Assist Front Desk with Express Check-outs and newspaper delivery. * Handle items for “Lost and Found” according to the standards. * Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority. * Observe security monitors for any unusual activity and report suspicious behavior report directly to the supervisor on duty. * Memorize and monitor life safety system installed at property including layout of entire building, alarm pull stations, location of fire extinguisher and sprinklers. * Performs all other job related duties as assigned. Requirements: * Must have High school diploma/GED. * Must have at least 1 year related experience. * Must be at least 18 years old. Preferred Qualifications: * College degree.
