Description:
Company is hiring a full time Manager of Maintenance to join their locally owned company. They are a rapidly growing poultry processor located in Hartwell, GA, only 40 minutes from Anderson, SC, 45 minutes from Athens, GA and 1 hour from Greenville, SC. This position reports directly to the VP of Operations and indirectly to the Financial Controller and has one direct report (Purchasing Associate). Company offers Medical, Dental, Vision, Accidental & Life Insurance as well as a 401(k) plan with up to a 4% match. To be successful in this role, you will need: excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong leadership and negotiation skills; experience in manufacturing or warehousing; experience with an accounting program or ERP (we use NetSuite); a superior history maintaining a balanced budget. GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Repair & maintain all plant operating equipment and the facility as a whole. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Maintain buildings and grounds, directing staff and overseeing the upkeep of equipment and supplies. * Ensure buildings and grounds are maintained. * Determine and schedule repairs, renovation projects, waste reduction improvements and safety inspections. * Establish budget and negotiate with outside vendors for supplies, repairs and other measures. * Oversee maintenance workers, and custodial staff. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and/or considerable experience in the operation of a large scale poultry processing facility; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING SKILLS: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Driver’s License required. Employee may be required to travel short distances occasionally. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Plant work may frequently include working in a wet or humid condition (non-weather) and occasional exposure to freezer and cooler temperatures of 0 to 40 F. Employee may be regularly required to handle cleaning solutions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Note: Necessary safety equipment will be furnished. COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive typing skills and knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software; preferably Word and Excel. Other basic computer skills including knowledge of Windows software are also needed. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Employee must be available for plant hours as needed but consistently between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some after-hours work and light traveling may also be required for this job.
