Job Title: Deckhand Job Location: Savannah, Georgia Salary: $14.00 - $14.00 Salary Frequency: Hourly Description: **COMPANY IS OFFERING A $1000 RECRUITING BONUS** SUMMARY:The Deckhand/Mate delivers safe and courteous service to the public. Requests passenger compliance to safety issues with courtesy. Handles lines to moor vessel to wharves, sweeps/washes deck, and stands steering and lockout watches while underway. Moves controls or turns hand-wheels to raise or lower passenger ramps. Simple maintenance of motor and minor repairs to docks/ferryboat. Splices and repairs cable/ropes.QUALIFICATIONS:* Regularly required to remain in a stationary position; operate and handle equipment; ascend/descend or traverse docks and ferryboats; position self and move about; and communicate/exchange information.* Must occasionally move between 50-80 lbs.* Requires close, distance and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus due to the nature of the job.* Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.* Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise level.* Must be able to effectively communicate with passengers, the general public and before groups of customers/public in a positive and courteous manner.* Performs related work as assigned.* Knowledge of US Coast Guard regulations.* Must provide a complete and verifiable employment history.
