Wage and Tax Reporting Changes for Employers |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Changes in federal reporting guidelines have precipitated the agency to review reporting formats. As a result of the review, changes have been made to the reporting requirements for electronic wage and tax reports. These changes will provide better customer service and more efficient processing of reports filed via electronic media. These changes will also position the agency to offer more advanced electronic filing capabilities in the near future.
The most significant and immediate changes will impact those reporting wages and/or taxes via magnetic media. A highlight of these changes is listed below:
Effective Immediately
- All submissions must include a Transmittal Form
- All media must contain an external label
- 3480/3490 Tape Cartridges must include the volume serial number and block size
- Data on non-tape media must be compressed in either a WinZip or PKZip format
Effective January 1, 2006
- The acceptable electronic media formats will be either GDOL Wages or NASWA Y2K
Please note that failure to adhere to the new requirements may result in your electronic media being returned unprocessed. Returned media could result in a penalty charge on the unprocessed
report(s).
Electronic Media Specifications for Quarterly Unemployment Insurance Reporting are available in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view or print. A free software download is available from the Adobe web site.
Personnel are also available to answer questions concerning the new reporting requirements.
Please call the Magnetic Media Unit at 404-232-3265. |
