Local Workforce Area Leadership

In 1999, the Governor designated the Georgia Department of Labor as the state agency responsible for implementation of WIA. The Governor also appointed the Georgia Workforce Investment Board to help plan and develop Georgia's overall workforce system.

The Workforce Investment Act gives local workforce boards broad authority and responsibility for designing local workforce systems and delivering services in a manner designed to best achieve the goals of WIA based on the area's particular workforce needs.
