Description:
Responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. Perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers. Direct and coordinate the activities of the purchasing department. Meet all purchasing deadlines and maintain budget restrictions. Coordinate purchases between department supervisors and plant manager. Maintain inventory levels and scheduled audits. Job Tasks: * Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the purchasing department * Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints * Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems as they relate to purchasing * Interview, evaluate, and coach and counsel with employees * Initiate and coordinate inventory and cost control programs * Prepare and maintain purchasing reports * Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or delivered goods * Enforce safety and sanitation regulations * Monitor and approve employee time * Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies * Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness * Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms * Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation * Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power * Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking * Assess, manage and mitigate risks * Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers * Determine quantity and timing of deliveries * Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand * Ability to communicate effectively in English * Any other duties as asked by plant manager Skills: * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions * Ability to read and understand equipment operation manuals, Material Safety Data Sheets, and other literature as required * Good mathematics skills * Troubleshooting * Critical Thinking/Problem solving Preferred Skills: * Basic computer knowledge preferred * Prefer two years of supervisory/management experience * Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management * Interest in market dynamics along with business sense * A knack for negotiation and networking * Solid judgment along with decision-making skills * Strong leadership capabilities Work Activities: * Communicating with Management, Peers, or Subordinates * Getting members of the department together to accomplish tasks * Monitoring all purchases and orders as delivered * Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance * Approve employee time * Handle employee grievances * Order materials to meet deadlines/monitor inventory * Read specifications * Adhere to and promote the company safety programs Physical Requirements: This position requires a moderate to high degree of- * Remaining in a stationary position * Moving about the building * Positioning ones self to access specific work areas * Detect items at close range * Reaching, pulling or pushing * Operating machines & tools with good dexterity * The ability to detect noises and sounds on equipment as well as equipment malfunctions are considered essential * A moderate to high degree of repetitive motions operating equipment may also be required When submitting a résumé for this position, I understand that this information may be used to create a registration with the Georgia Department of Labor on Employ Georgia. #CBRH

Requirements:
Minimum Education: Associates degree/some college
