Description:
Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up & operates machine tools, fits & assembles parts to fabricate, repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, & machinists' hand tools by performing duties. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include: * Study specifications ie... blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, & visualizes product to determine materials req & machines to be used to fabricate parts * Compute dimensions, plan layout & determines assembly method & sequence of operations * Measure, mark, & scribe metal stock for machining * Set up & operate machine tools ie... lathes, milling machine, shaper, & grinder, to machine parts, & verify conformance of machined parts to specifications * Position machined parts & position/secure parts on surface plate or worktable * Smooth flat, contoured surfaces & power grinders. Fit & assemble parts together into assemblies & mechanisms * Verify dimensions, alignments, & clearances * Heat treat tools/parts * Connect wiring & hydraulic lines to install electrical/hydraulic components * Examine std or previously used dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, recommend design modifications regarding construction, & function of part * Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools & draws or sketches design of product * Comply w/TS16949 requirements defined by Company Policies & Procedures (job specific) * Other duties may be assigned * Study specifications ie... blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, visualizes product to determine materials required & machines to be used to fabricate parts * Compute dimensions, plans layout, determine assembly method & sequence of operations * Measure, mark, & scribe metal stock for machining * Set up & operate machine tools ie... lathes, milling machine, shaper, & grinder, to machine parts & verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications. * Lift machined parts, position & secure parts on surface plate or worktable * Smooth flat & contoured surfaces, power grinders, fits/assembles parts together into assemblies & mechanisms * Verify dimensions, alignments, & clearances * Heat treat tools or parts * Connect wiring/hydraulic lines to install electrical/hydraulic components * Examine std or previously used dies, tools, jigs, & fixtures.
