Description:
Responsible for the transportation of goods and materials to and from all warehouses, to also include our customer accounts. Provide exceptional service to each Customer and constantly strive to improve that service. All drivers of commercial motor vehicles must have the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a commercial vehicle safely as outlined in U. S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration – Parts 40, 380, 382, 383, 387, 390-397, 399. All drivers will acknowledge receipt of these regulations in the Driver Pocketbook and agree to familiarize themselves with those regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License 2. Must have knowledge and conduct maintenance of single and multi-rear axle trucks meeting the requirements for Commercial Driver’s Licensing (including a general knowledge of laws, regulations and operation of the stated vehicle) 3. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, correctly complete driver’s log book of vehicle, and be able to explain what one expects and why. 4. Maneuver and control the vehicle in a safe fashion, which includes handling the vehicle on-site and in over-the-road situations, proper signaling, searching for hazards, controlling speed, lane positioning, matching speeds to road conditions (wet, dry, snow, or ice) and ability to drive during daytime or nighttime 5. Responsible for routine fueling and requesting any service needed on company vehicle. 6. Understand air brake systems on any vehicle equipped with the system; 7. When not driving, will be directed by Transportation Manager on tasks to be completed around facility and yard. 8. May need to occasionally maneuver up to 100 lbs. 9. Perform all the above functions in a safe manner in order to avoid personal injury and equipment damage. Ability to work independently with efficiency and focus – and to work as a contributing member of a larger team. Strong customer service skills. Able to read, count accurately, do simple math and write legibly. Able to complete internal certification programs. Substance abuse testing is a condition of employment.
