Reporting UI Fraud and Abuse
Unemployment Insurance (UI) fraud and abuse is a crime that affects everyone. It drives up UI taxes for businesses, and causes frustration for law-abiding workers. Individuals who commit fraud are subject to penalties and/or criminal prosecution. The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the UI program. If you think someone is committing fraud or abuse against the GDOL UI program or someone is using your social security number to fraudulently collect unemployment benefits, it is important that you let us know about it. All allegations of fraud and abuse are taken seriously. Please provide as much information as possible. You can remain anonymous when providing such information. Due to confidentiality requirements, we are unable to share with you the results of any investigation conducted as a result of the information you provide.

Information on UI Fraud and Abuse

The Georgia Department of Labor offers several options for you to report suspected cases of unemployment benefit fraud, abuse, identity theft, job refusals and failed pre-employment drug screening tests. We review all tips received, regardless of how much information is provided. However, the more details you can give when reporting unemployment fraud, the better it will help us in our investigation.

In addition to the name of the individual and the fraudulent activity they are doing, providing details such as their address, telephone number, date of birth, and/or their social security number will help us better identify the person in our claim records.
